Sidco Lab
Laboratory and materials testing for soils, concrete, aggregates and asphalt, plus site laboratories set up and run on your project.
Sidco Lab is the new name for SIDCO’s materials laboratory. It tests the soil samples from our investigations and the materials that go into construction, to recognised ASTM and BS methods. Non-standard methods are used only after validation and with the client’s agreement.
Soils
- Particle size distribution (BS EN ISO 17892-4)
- Atterberg limits, moisture content and bulk density
- Compaction (Proctor) and maximum dry density
- Laboratory CBR, including soaked CBR
- Direct shear, specific gravity and organic content
- Triaxial and consolidation tests can be arranged when a design needs them
Concrete and steel
- Cube compressive strength
- Trial mixes
- Core cutting and testing
- Rebound hammer surveys
- Reinforcing bar testing
Aggregates, asphalt and road materials
- Aggregate gradation and specific gravity
- Marshall test and bitumen extraction
- Asphalt compaction and prime coat checks
- Compaction of aggregate base course and subgrade
Site laboratories
For contractors who need results every day, we set up, calibrate and run a laboratory on the project site, staffed by our technicians and reporting to the same procedures as the main lab.
Water and chemical tests
Water quality and groundwater chemistry, such as sulphate and chloride for concrete exposure, are not tested in-house. We arrange them with a qualified laboratory and report them with our results.
How we keep results traceable and impartial: quality at Sidco Lab.
Deliverables
- Test reports with method and standard
- Measurement uncertainty where relevant
- Statements of conformity, with the decision rule stated
