Environmental field surveys

Baseline and monitoring surveys: marine benthic, water quality, air and noise, vegetation, traffic, and drone and GIS mapping.

An EIA is only as good as its baseline. Our field team collects the data on site, to a plan agreed in the terms of reference, and repeats it for monitoring once works start.

Marine benthic surveys

  • GPS-referenced line transects
  • Percentage cover of live coral, seagrass, sand, rubble and dead coral
  • Fish census and manta tows
  • Reef condition around dredging and reclamation areas

Water quality

We plan the sampling, collect marine and groundwater samples, and arrange the analysis with a qualified laboratory. Typical parameters are pH, conductivity, temperature, salinity, total dissolved and suspended solids, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, hydrocarbons and coliforms.

Air and noise

Air quality (CO, NO, SO₂) and noise levels at the receptors that matter: homes, schools, guest villas.

Vegetation

Vegetation surveys and tree counts, with species recorded by Dhivehi and scientific name, habitats classified, and old or protected trees flagged.

Traffic

Traffic counts for road projects and for sites that will change how people move around an island.

Drone and GIS

Drone imagery of the site, and GIS maps of survey points, sensitive areas and the project footprint, delivered as KMZ and shapefiles.

Deliverables

  • Baseline survey chapters for EIAs
  • Monitoring survey reports
  • Maps, KMZ and shapefiles
  • Photo and transect records
